Job Description:This role provides day-to-day support for the Materials Laboratory in the Decker Engineering building. The responsibilities for this job are divided between Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) duties and hands-on experimental support work within the lab. The successful applicant will help management ensure safety compliance in the lab by utilizing inspection scheduling and incident response tracking software, while also assisting with various materials testing procedures and equipment maintenance.Day-to-Day Responsibilities:Support Lab management in safety-related matters.Conduct regular inspections of safety-related items in the lab.Input inspection findings into Gensuite EHS software.Discuss inspection findings with management and assist with follow-up actions.Inspect hazardous waste operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.Collaborate with building managers to support hazardous waste labeling and removal processes.Maintain accurate chemical inventory, including adding new chemicals and removing discarded chemicals.Complete required safety training and certifications as necessary.Assist lab personnel in carrying out routine materials testing activities.Work with internal customers to design and conduct high-temperature materials experiments.Abide by all applicable safety and health requirements to ensure a safe working environment.Required Education:Associate's Degree (AS/AAS) in a related field.Required Skills:Experience with hazard identification and performing inspections/audits.Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Knowledge of OSHA 1910 standards and safety regulations.Hands-on experience with equipment and machinery.Good written and verbal communication skills.Desired Experience/Qualifications/Skills:Work experience in a lab environment.Knowledge of hazardous waste segregation and RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) regulations.Experience with hazardous waste disposal procedures.Work experience with high-temperature processes (hot work).Required Experience:Minimum 2-3 years of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) field or as an advanced Lab Technician with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety practices, with a willingness to train in EHS duties.Education: Bachelors Degree
