Overview The Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the facility's safety, health, security and environmental programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Marzetti, and we reserve the right to contact those candidates without any obligation to pay a fee.Regulatory Compliance:•Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and company policies.•Maintain adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations and standards.•Ensure compliance with quality, facility security, food safety, and HACCP support programs where applicable.•Maintain and update all required safety documentation, including permits, reports, and records.•Perform EHS inspections and prepare for routine EHS audits of the facility by corporate and third parties.•Assure conformity to all company, customer, and government standards. Represents company's interests, along with enterprise leaders, in compliance enforcement actions and any litigation.•Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, environmental reporting, sampling, and policies.Safety Programs:•Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures.•Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues.•Coordinate the facility's Behavior-Based Safety program, including data analysis from observations.•Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.•Administer workers' compensation claims management, including accident/injury documentation, medical treatment, follow-ups, and record retention.•Collaborate with department managers and shift supervisors to ensure an incident-free workplace.•Manages physical security, including access control systems, cameras, fencing, guard stations, and alarm systems. Owns improvement plans for physical equipment and site security protocols.Training and Development:•Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, annual refresher courses, and specialized training.•Leads as the Marzetti Operational Excellence (MOE) Safety Pillar Champion for facility.•Coordinate OSHA-required safety training for employees and maintain OSHA-required documentation for plant programs.•Provide coaching and support to supervisors and employees on EHS-related matters.Environmental Management:•Responsible for environmental stewardship for site, including overseeing waste management, recycling programs, and pollution prevention initiatives.•Monitor and manage environmental metrics, including air and water quality, hazardous waste, and energy consumption.Emergency Response:•Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.•Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and training exercises.Continuous Improvement:•Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance safety and environmental performance.•Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to implement EHS initiatives.•Coordinates/consults with other Marzetti EHS&S management teams regarding best practices, including compliance and policy matters.•Provides analysis of trends and costs associated with EHS&S oversight to facility management and corporate EHS&S.Communication and Reporting:•Compile and submit information for all required department, corporate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.•Prepare and present EHS reports to senior management.•Communicate EHS expectations and updates to all levels of the organization.•Maintain OSHA and Workers' Compensation required documentation of injury/accident data.•Administers workers' compensation claims management, documentation, medical treatment, follow-up, and record retention.•Provide analysis of trends and costs associated with safety to plant management and corporate safety.Other Responsibilities:•Maintains close working relationship with other functional staff, including operations, supply chain, engineering, maintenance, operational excellence, quality, and sanitation. Responds to deviations from standards immediately.•Maintains good employee, corporate and community relations.•Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Qualifications •Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or a related field.•5-7 years of experience in Safety, Security, US OHSA and EPA, & Worker's Compensation administration in a manufacturing environment required, preferably within the food-related industry.•Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.•Experience with safety management systems and environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).•Ability to drive the safety program and engage associates within all levels of the organization.•Excellent communication, organization, training, and presentation skills.•Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Bias for action and continuous improvement.•Ability to lead and influence others, work collaboratively, and build relationships across the organization.•Appropriately works with confidential information/situations and manages associated correspondence.•Preferably credentialed in the EHS&S field (i.e. ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, REM).•Ability and willingness to work on all shifts to ensure EHS&S excellence.•Ability to travel to other locations 20% or less of the time.Supervisory Responsibility:•Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and results of the EHS&S function at the facility. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, training, scheduling, appraising, and investigating incidents; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances, resolving problems, and interpreting policies. Working Conditions/Environment •Majority of time spent in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to noise, heat, and other environmental factors.•Ability to stand, walk, and move around the facility for extended periods.•Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.•Slip-resistant safety-toed shoes, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards. Condition of these items must be inspected by employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing the optimal protection of the Team Member.
