Job Description Atlantic Health System is seeking a
Per Diem Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) at Hackettstown Medical Center. Required hours are
8:00AM - 4:00PM, including rotating weekends.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities: - Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms (including bathroom) and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture, public bathrooms, offices etc.
- Checks EVS cart, ensuring proper chemical supplies are stocked with all bottles properly labeled and dated.
- Makes sure that paper supplies are stocked sufficiently in all bathrooms.
- Removes trash, bring soiled linens to soiled linen room, disperse clean linens to patient areas to clean linen storage rooms and areas.
- Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
- Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in personal, patient and team member safety regarding blood borne pathogens, needle stick prevention, fire safety, bed tracking and discharge communication, hospital codes, lock out-tag out procedures, hand washing, patient satisfaction, OSHA regulations, maintaining records and reports necessary for regulatory compliance.
- Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
- Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
- Basic computer and electronic technology usage for email and application navigation.
- Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
- Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Reports any repairs to maintenance
Requirements: - HS Diploma or GED equivalent required or will obtain within 2 years of employment.
- To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Ability to apply elementary math functions.
- Ability to work well under time constraints.
- Must be able to be on feet for all or most of the shift.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat and stands for long periods of time, bends, lifts, pushes and pulls up to 50 lbs.
Relevant Experience: - Previous housekeeping experience in a hospital/healthcare environment preferred.
- Previous floor-care experience preferred.
