Job Description:

Overview

The Solid Waste Program seeks an Environmental Analyst excited to work with Vermonters to encourage waste reduction, toxics reduction, and improve recycling and composting rates. You will be part of the Materials Management Section helping to implement the statewide Materials Management Plan, Universal Recycling Law, Single Use Products Law and other waste reduction initiatives. This position works with and supports solid waste districts, businesses, municipalities, and the general public to meet Vermont's waste management goals. You will join a high-functioning team, based in Montpelier, that values collaboration and varying perspectives.

Qualified candidates will:

* Be comfortable talking with people about trash and recycling and helping them to reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, and compost,

* Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail,

* Have experience working with diverse audiences such as businesses, schools, municipalities, residents, and underserved communities, and

* Be knowledgeable about solid waste, recycling, and composting.

* Experience managing extended producer responsibility programs and/or graphic design skill is a plus.

Job duties will include:

* Assisting businesses and institutions with materials management,

* Working with municipalities to improve recycling information and services,

* Developing and implementing outreach and education programs that motivate action, including presentations to the public, and

* Managing grants and contracts to ensure high-quality deliverables.

The Agency of Natural Resources and Solid Waste Program have an employee-friendly telework policy, which allows staff, with supervisor approval, to work from the office as little as a few days a month. The rest of the days, staff are welcome to work in the office as they wish or work from their home offices. This position is permanent and when considering salary, remember that benefits are worth ~30% of total compensation.
