Job Description:

Environmental and Siting Associate Location: Houston, Texas or Charleston, SC Summary: The Environmental and Siting Associate will be a key player in ensuring company's projects comply with environmental regulations and are optimally located. The Specialist will work closely with the Manager, Environmental and Siting, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify suitable sites for renewable energy projects, conduct environmental assessments, and navigate the regulatory landscape. Open to candidates in Houston or Charleston. Job Duties

  • Site Identification and Analysis:
  • Identify and evaluate potential sites for renewable energy projects.
  • Conduct site feasibility studies, including environmental, technical, and regulatory assessments.
  • Coordinate with GIS specialists to analyze spatial data and create site maps.
  • Environmental Assessments:
  • Perform environmental impact assessments (EIA) and studies to identify potential environmental risks and impacts of proposed projects.
  • Work with environmental consultants and experts to conduct necessary fieldwork and evaluations.
  • Prepare and review environmental reports and documentation.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and standards.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary environmental permits and approvals for projects.
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and ensure timely submission of applications and reports.
  • Project Management:
  • Manage timelines and budgets for environmental siting and assessment processes.
  • Track project milestones and ensure adherence to project schedules.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate environmental and siting considerations into project planning and execution.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Facilitate public meetings and consultations as required by the siting and permitting process.
  • Address concerns and feedback from community members and other stakeholders.
  • Represent company in meetings with regulatory bodies and other external entities.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all site evaluations, assessments, and related correspondence.
  • Prepare regular updates and reports for the Manager, Environmental and Siting, and other senior management.
  • Ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards and internal policies.
Job Requirements Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)) are a plus.
Required Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in environmental siting, assessments, and compliance, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing site identification and environmental assessment processes for large-scale projects.
Other Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and siting processes.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in environmental impact assessment methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with GIS and spatial analysis tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Physical requirements: The Environmental & Siting Associate may be required to endure the following physical activities, environmental conditions, and physical demands:
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like,
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces,
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another,
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions,
  • Communicating with others to exchange information,
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers, and
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
