Daft-McCune-Walker, Inc. is seeking a Natural Resources Specialist, with a minimum of 5 years of experience, to join our team in Towson, MD, US. This person will be responsible for assisting with the coordination and negotiation compliance with environmental laws in support of DMW quality projects. The ideal candidate will be proficient with federal, state, and local laws related to environmental protection and development of properties for public and private clients. In addition, they must be comfortable working both independently and in a team environment. Responsibilities: Primary duties include: • Coordinating environmental compliance for land development and related projects. • Performing field investigations to evaluate the presence, absence, and extent of regulated water resources, forests, and other natural features, on various sites with the expressed purpose of determining how these features may affect the development potential of those properties. • Performing nontidal wetland and stream delineations, forest stand delineations, natural resources inventories, and possessing a strong understanding of wetland and forest ecology and how natural systems work. • Prepare reforestation plans, wetland mitigation plans, and stream restoration plans. • Applying for and seeking regulatory approvals of field delineations and adjusting wetland delineations as necessary to obtain approval. Conduct negotiations to obtain approval of impacts to regulated natural resources. A background in biological or physical sciences with an understanding of geology, soils, plants/plant identification, hydrology, and conservation practices is required. Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in biological or physical sciences. • Ability to identify plants, describe soil conditions, and understand ecological principles. • Working knowledge of environmental regulations and policies through education or on-the-job experience. • Basic level CAD experience through education or on-the-job training. • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly persuasive writing skills. • Ability to work alone outdoors for long periods carrying equipment and performing physical labor. Compensation: $45,000 - $65,000 annually
