Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is located in Tifton, GA.
This position is responsible for performing field and office related duties for agricultural water withdrawal applications and permits, agricultural meter installations, and Water Well Standards Act drill
site inspections. This position will utilize maps and GPS tools to locate and identify wells, surface water
pumps, and flow meters. This position will audits permits and drill sites to verify compliance. This
position will interact extensively with farmers, property owners, University of Georgia Extension agents,
water well drillers, and other agricultural stakeholders. This position will provide timely and accurate
documentation of field work and inspection results. This position will identify permit compliance issues,
develop Notices of Violation, track compliance issues and resolutions, provide technical assistance with
stakeholders, and audit permits to determine compliance. This position requires performing inside
office work and outside field work.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience in compliance with State Personnel Board Rules.
Minimum Qualifications:
RCP020 - Environmental Compliance Specialist 1
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Geology or other natural or physical science or engineering field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with technical field work.
* Knowledge of agriculture and irrigation systems.
