Summary :
under the supervision of the Landfill supervisor, this position is primarily responsible for properly documenting, collecting and analyzing the ground water monitoring wells, storm water, leachate, landfill gas and other samples, along with ensuring compliance with applicable environmental laws and TCEQ solid waste regulations at the landfill. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, over time as necessary by the department, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
Essential responsibilities:
* properly document, collect and analyzes the ground water monitoring wells and air quality samples.
* remains updated with regards to new sampling requirements and procedures.
* Monitors litter control around the landfill, metal pile, tires and tree limb piles.
* prepares and maintains records in a neat and organized manner, keep proper documents for compliance purposes.
* Repairs minor issues with both the Flare and water wells, keeping in compliance with state and departmental standards. recording any damages or down time.
* Assists with TCEQ Data, weekly, Quarterly and monthly.
* Prepares Quarterly inspection reports, monitors and documents any Landfill storm water discharge areas for compliance with federal, state and local Storm water (SWP3) regulations.
* Coordinates and schedules any planned sampling events with the COA wastewater treatment personnel or outside testing laboratories.
* Documents incoming load reports and special waste inspections.
* picks up trash, Cleans the breakroom, runs equipment, mows the grass around the landfill and buildings, Traffic control when needed and other duties as assigned or required to maintain daily operations at the landfill.
* Provides Hazardous material Collection and disposal, responding when necessary.
* Maintains and updates the Hazardous Material Safety inventory list and inspections.
* Performs Gatehouse Duties as needed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
* Must have working knowledge of landfill operations, wastewater testing, or related field is preferred.
* Must have the ability to adhere to complex regulations and testing procedures.
* Ability to operate computer for Data entry and word processing.
* Must have Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to operate small office equipment, including Copy machines or multiline telephone systems.
* Strong people skills, the ability to work in inclement weather, Rain, snow, wind and heat.

Required Qualifications:
* Requires a high school Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum or one years' experience.
* Must have a Texas Class C driver's license.
