Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking to an Environmental Engineer III for our Jacksonville, FL office. Our business focuses primarily on providing professional and technical services in engineering design, code consultation, and construction phase services for a wide variety of clients both in the private and public sectors.

Our business line executes large and complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services.

The job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

+ Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

+ Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

+ Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.

+ Identifies discrepancies in results.

+ Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

+ Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

+ Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.

+ Utilize basic engineering principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

+ Analyze and draw conclusions from site assessment contaminant data for remedial action purposes.

+ Thorough understanding of site characterization and remediation guidelines as provided in Florida Administrative Code.

+ Works with fellow peers to develop remedial strategies on a site-by-site basis or for a portfolio of projects.

+ Troubleshoots and provides assistance to technicians for in-situ active remediation systems; increases their optimization, runtimes, efficiencies, and potential cost savings.

+ Prepares and designs remediation pilot studies, aides in their implementation; assist with proper data collection and interpretation; provides technical guidance to junior engineers or technicians; prepares pilot test reports for submittal to project managers, senior engineers, clients, and regulatory agency.

+ Prepares and designs remedial action plans and plan modifications.

+ Performs necessary calculations for equipment sizing.

+ Develops implementation costs, schedules installation and supervises subcontractors and internal field staff on proper construction.

+ Monitors QA/QC and budget controls.

+ Follows best industry safety practices and leads by example.

+ Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

+ Plan, execute, analyze and report on environmental measures in natural systems.

+ Apply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics) to explain observations.

+ Study contaminants and determine how to restore the environment.

+ Gather and interpret chemical and non-chemical data and other information to be used in the preparation of scientific reports.

+ Compiles and organizes environmental data collected by others.

+ Review analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines.

+ Works under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

+ BA/BS in Engineering or related field + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

+ Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review

+ As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening

+ Due to the nature of this work, U.S. Citizenship is a requirement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Masters Degree in Engineering or related field

+ Professional Engineering license (P.E.)

+ 5+ years of experience in environmental investigations and site remediation

+ Experience with FDEP Petroleum Restoration Program

+ Project management experience

+ Experience with CERCLA and RCRA remediation programs at complex sites

+ OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification

+ Experience with construction documentation, construction management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

+ Strong technical report writing skills and the ability to develop design specifications

Additional Information

+ Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

+ Relocation is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $105,000.00.
