DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will evaluate Waste Management Permit applications pertaining to municipal, residual, and hazardous waste landfills, transfer stations, incinerators, as well as resource recovery and processing facilities, to ensure compliance with Department regulations. You will be responsible for drafting acknowledgment letters, technical review correspondence, and permits as integral components of the review process for these Waste Permit applications. Additionally, you will perform site inspections for all proposed facilities under your review as part of the application assessment. Furthermore, you will analyze the engineering aspects of closure and post-closure plans for municipal, residual, and hazardous waste facilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
* Full-time employment
* Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
* Travel is required for site visits and inspections.
* Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown.
* Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,678.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
* Two years of professional experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
* One year of professional experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
* Successful completion of the training program for Environmental Engineering Trainee; or
* One year of professional experience in environmental engineering, and a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or in any engineering field that includes or is supplemented by 9 credits in environmental engineering.
* Graduate study in environmental engineering or in a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Conditions of Employment:
* This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

* PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
