Job Description:Maryland Environmental Service (MES) offers a 24-month Rotational Environmental Fellowship Program, designed to provide recent graduates and professionals with comprehensive exposure to MES operations. Fellows rotate through all four of MES' operating groups (Environmental Dredging and Restoration, Environmental Operations, Technical and Environmental Services and Water/Wastewater), spending three months in each area. This immersive experience includes hands-on technical training, mentorship, and leadership development, and a capstone project in the second year, tailored to align with participants' educational backgrounds and career interests. The capstone project allows fellows to identify and propose solutions to operational challenges, culminating in a presentation to MES leadership. Fellows will also gain insight into the administrative aspects of MES operations, including safety and compliance, procurement, and finance. Through executive leadership exposure and professional development opportunities, this program prepares participants for potential future roles within MES. As a Rotational Environmental Specialist Fellow, you will engage in diverse environmental tasks, including field assessments, habitat restoration, environmental monitoring, and sustainability planning. Daily responsibilities will involve supporting active projects, conducting environmental site visits, preparing technical reports, and collaborating with teams across divisions.Fellows will gain practical experience with data collection and analysis, compliance evaluations, and environmental permitting processes. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with public outreach efforts, resource conservation planning, and contributing to the development of environmental policies or strategies.This position is based at our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD, with some travel to project sites within Maryland.Responsibilities:•Participate in rotational assignments within various MES divisions.•Contribute to projects and initiatives across multiple divisions.•Engage in ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.•Develop and complete a capstone project addressing a critical operational or engineering challenge within MES, incorporating knowledge and experience gained throughout the program. •Collaborate with peers to gain a comprehensive understanding of MES operations.•Shadow and assist environmental specialist staff with tasks such as preparing and reviewing scientific and environmental technical reports and permit applications, natural resource planning, and task management.
Estimated Pay Range:$43,909.83 - $60,376.59

Minimum Requirements:- Qualified Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in environmental science, ecology, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Applicants who have not yet completed their degree requirements may apply but must provide proof of degree completion prior to the start of the Fellowship
