The Environmental Health and Safety Engineer will lead initiatives to ensure workplace and environmental safety, adhering to legal standards and company policies. Collaborate with teams to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
Some of the Responsibilities of the Environmental Health and Safety Engineer include:
- Develop and enforce environmental policies focusing on waste management, stormwater, SPCC, resource conservation, and pollution prevention.
- Prepare reports and obtain operating permits.
- Participate in administering the ISO 14001 EMS program.
- Implement safety and industrial hygiene protocols to prevent incidents.
- Conduct regular risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Adapt practices to legislative changes.
- Lead investigations into incidents and devise preventive strategies.
- Manage comprehensive EHS programs.
- Conduct EHS training sessions.
- Coordinate response plans for emergencies, including spill management and first aid.
- Track and report on EHS performance metrics.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, community organizations, and internal teams.
- Develop cost estimates and capital expense requests for EHS projects.
- Perform administrative tasks and report hazardous conditions.
- Maintain clean and hazard-free work areas.
Some of the Qualifications/Requirements of the Environmental Health and Safety Engineer include:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering/Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Minimum seven years of experience in environmental and safety roles, preferably in aerospace or manufacturing.
- Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, State, local) applied in a manufacturing context.
- Experience managing environmental programs and occupational health and safety initiatives.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to develop cost-effective solutions.
- Strong communication and training abilities.
- Leadership skills in a collaborative environment.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Relevant OSHA Certification highly desirable.
- First Responder qualified CPR/First Aid/AED a plus.
- ASP/CSP, IHIT/CIH, RS, RM, CHMM, FE/EIT, PE strong plus.
