Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Job Overview
The objective of this role is to support our network in addressing safety issues and to develop and implement environmental and safety programs properly and culturally within our organization. This role requires an analytical thinker with a strong technical background in EH&S, excellent leadership skills and will play a crucial role in protecting the company employees and assets while ensuring compliance with regulations and advancing sustainability goals. Additionally, this individual will support regulatory compliance related to chemical manufacturing and distribution. This includes EPA, OSHA, DOT, and all government agencies federal, state, and local.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement corporate-wide Environmental Health & Safety strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Lead the development of long-term Environmental Health & Safety goals and objectives for the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Staying abreast of changing regulations, including OHSA, EPA, and DOT
- Representing company in compliance matters and managing relationships with regulatory agencies
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures for becoming and remaining in compliance with regulations, conduct comprehensive risk assessments across all company operations.
- Development and Implementation of risk mitigation strategies
- Communication of EH&S policies, procedures, and performance to all levels of organization
- Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
- Prepare and Present regular EH&S performance reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Safety Engineering, or Related field
- 7-10 years of experience in EH&S, with experience in a leadership or managerial role
- Experience in a multi-site, corporate environment
- Comprehensive understanding of EH&S regulations and best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Having a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager or Certified Environmental Professional certification is also considered advantageous.
