Job Description:

Position Overview:

The Quality Assurance, Health and Safety Manager will lead safety, quality, and environmental compliance programs within a fast-paced plastic manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to IATF/ISO standards, managing audit processes, and driving continuous improvement in product quality, operational safety, and environmental stewardship.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 standards and hold relevant lead auditor certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Health and Safety Leadership:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain workplace health and safety policies in compliance with OSHA and industry-specific standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, lead incident investigations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Drive employee safety training and engagement to cultivate a proactive safety culture.

Quality Assurance Oversight:

  • Manage and maintain compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards, ensuring robust quality management systems are in place.
  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring successful certification and ongoing compliance.
  • Conduct root cause analyses, implement CAPAs, and promote continuous improvement to enhance product quality and reliability.

Environmental Compliance:

  • Oversee environmental management initiatives in alignment with ISO 14001 certification standards.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations, including waste reduction and sustainability practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing operations.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Employee Training and Engagement:

  • Provide ongoing training and mentorship to employees on health, safety, quality, and environmental protocols.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and innovation through clear communication and recognition of achievements.

Audit and Compliance Management:

  • Serve as the lead auditor for IATF/ISO certifications, ensuring processes meet or exceed required standards.
  • Prepare for and lead external audits, managing interactions with certification bodies and regulatory agencies.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a quality or health and safety role, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity, preferably in plastic manufacturing.

Certifications:

  • Lead Auditor Certification (IATF 16949/ISO 9001).
  • ISO 14001 Audit Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards is required.
  • Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities. Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies is preferred.
  • Proficiency in managing and conducting internal and external audits.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to implement process improvements effectively.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.

Work Environment:

This role requires significant time in manufacturing facilities and adherence to all safety protocols. Occasional travel for audits, training, or regulatory meetings may be necessary.
