SummaryThe Environmental Health and Safety Manager, reporting to the Sr Vice President of Operations and Logistics, is accountable for the leadership, assessment, audit, and execution of programs associated with facility and operational safety, health, and environmental programs, policies, and compliance. - Formulates and administrates safety policies and procedures to be followed by company or plant personnel in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations, FDA, DEC, NEC, NYSDA, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, and DEP requirements.
- Identifies existing hazards by implementing qualitative and quantitative analysis of sources, systems, activities and operations.
- Performs audits of the organization's facilities in NY and PA to detect hazards and exposures and recommends and implements corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
- Leads in the investigation of incidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organizational use where necessary. Ensures complete, detailed, and accurate records are documented and stored safely.
- Compiles and submits incident/injury reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Manages and facilitates training for new hires and existing employees, temps, and contractors which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
- Prepares and arranges safety exhibits, signage, and material for display, promotional work, industry conferences and exhibitions.
- Identifies Personal Protective Equipment requirements throughout the facility, documents such requirements, assists with the acquisition of required attire and audits for compliance to work attire policies.
- Represents the organization in outside community or industry safety groups and programs.
- Maintains safety files and records including training logs, safety incident reports, policies, and all regulatory documentation.
- Facilitates annual testing in association with health-related compliance requirements such as sound and odors. Ensures employees receive necessary annual testing to evaluate health standards.
- Manages all associated environmental testing for facilities and ensures the proper installation of equipment and monitoring systems to comply. Ensure equipment is properly labeled.
- Performs internal investigations regarding the security of the Company and ensures all aspects of perimeter and physical plant security is maintained.
- Maintains professional credentials and knowledge required for this position.
- Consults with all departments on the design and use of equipment, production processes, fire prevention and safety systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations with new equipment commissioning and related safety assessment and risk analysis. Ensures the installation of necessary safety, health, or environmental equipment and training.
- Lead all efforts to meet environmental regulatory requirements.
- Conducts safety meetings, audits daily work practices and safety policies, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluates performance, identifies corrective action, and implements follow-up assessments to ensure sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local EH & S regulations.
- Ensures that yard safety programs and practices are in place on the rail yard and throughout the exterior of the facility.
- Develops and deploys safety scorecards, plant communications, safety recognition programs, and more to instill a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
- Oversees compliance with safety programs for facilities located in New York and Pennsylvania.
- Manages safety and environmental related Capex projects as well as identifies upcoming Capex Projects.
- Manages all facility wastewater procedures.

Required education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science; Industrial Hygiene; Industrial Safety or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' management experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety; or equivalent management experience in the manufacturing industry sector.
- Expertise in OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements and best practices.
Work environment and physical demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (including keyboarding.)
- Ability to walk, stand, crouch or kneel at times.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
Travel required
- The home office for this role is indicated at the top of this job description. Travel to other Ingredients Plus locations is required as business needs arise, usually a monthly visit to each facility.
