LaSalle Network has partnered with a Brooklyn-based leader in the hair care space in their search for an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to join their team in Pennsauken, NJ! This role involves conducting safety training, audits and inspections to ensure a safe work environment, as well as collaborating with the warehouse leadership teams to implement corrective actions and develop an Emergency Response/Action Plan. Additionally, the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will serve as the primary contact for injury and incident notification/investigation and maintain all documentation of safety inspection activities. This Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will partner closely with the regional HR team and be the first point of contact for any questions regarding payroll, benefits, PTO, employee relations and other high-level HR inquiries. While training is provided and an HR background is not required, candidates must be open to taking on a few administrative HR responsibilities! - Conduct safety training, accident prevention, audits and inspections
- Collaborate with the warehouse leadership team to implement corrective actions and perform follow-up assessments
- Develop an Emergency Response/Action Plan and serve as the primary contact for injury and incident notification/investigation
- Maintain documentation of safety inspection activities, fire systems, alarm system inspections and reports
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine causes and work with the leadership team to implement prevention measures
- Suggest solutions, improvements and prevention steps for safety issues
- Plan and implement programs to educate and train employees on workplace safety practices
- Regularly inspect the facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures and follow up to ensure measures are implemented
- Oversee initiatives and programs such as the Safety Committee, Material Handling Equipment Training Program, Incident Investigations and Emergency and Severe Weather Response Programs
- Manage all OSHA reporting, incidents and training
- Handle hazardous goods training, disposal and related compliance
- Implement and manage 5S for all buildings
- Partner with the HRBP for employee relations
- Engage in employee engagement and experience initiatives
- Assist with onboarding new hires and conducting exit interviews
- Address basic payroll and benefits questions
Environmental, Health & Safety Manager Requirements:
- 5+ years of safety experience in logistics, distribution or similar environment
- Ideally Spanish speaking, but not required
- No people management experience required as this is a solo position
- No degree required
- Exposure to HR functions or interest in learning more about HR
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong time management, organizational and prioritization abilities
- Attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift over 70 lbs. and stand or walk for long periods
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard identification and corrections and environmental regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
