SUMMARY:The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, training, and providing professional consultation and technical expertise associated with environmental, health and safety (EHS) matters. The EH&S Specialist works with internal and external stakeholders to provide a safe environment and to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations.ABOUT THE JOB:As the EH&S Specialist you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, training, and providing professional consultation and technical expertise associated with environmental, health and safety (EHS) matters. You will develop and implement programs with broad scope to include ongoing continuous improvement of its compliance programs and training methods. You will assist management with identifying trends and recommend options to reduce frequency and severity of issues related to EHS. You will lead the development and maintenance of programs and work with supervisors and managers on developing and improving EHS programs. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to provide a safe environment and to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations. You will lead and coordinate the internal safety team program.YOUR ROLE:Inspect the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risksDevelop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspectionsDevelop health and safety procedures for all areas of the companyPrepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topicsMonitor compliance with safety proceduresDraft inspection reports to document inspection findingsEnsure the material safety data system is maintained and readily accessible when neededMaintain record of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as requiredLead the development and maintenance of all EHS training program systems for staff and provide training to new employees in our orientation processConduct occupational health consultations and analysis of workplaces to aid in the identification, control and elimination of safety and health hazardsProvide consultative assistance to employees for compliance with state and federal occupational health and safety standards and rulesRepresent EHS and serve as a liaison with applicable external groups and entities regarding environmental and occupational health and safety mattersConduct health surveys utilizing appropriate sampling strategies, analyzes data and provides follow up reports for stakeholdersCalibrate and maintain industrial hygiene equipment, as neededAssist management in identifying employee injury causation trends, and mitigation options for reducing injury frequency and severityApply and interpret occupational health rules and consensus standards (i.e., ANSI) to enhance understanding of compliance with appropriate standards and controlsPrepare and deliver recommendations to supervisors, safety committee representatives, departments, managers, and employeesPerform administrative duties associated with the specific duties of the positionPerform other related duties as assignedManage cleaner positionBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field or 5+ years of progressive EH&S experience requiredExtensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policiesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailProficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspectionsProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteWillingness for regular travel between both locations to support the safety culture of ParagonWillingness to work in both an office environment and on the production floorWillingness to work a flexible schedule and overnight travel at needed to support a 3-shift operationPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to build rapport, establish trust and credibility, and provide winning solutions across all levels of employeesAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple prioritiesExperience as a lead in project managementGlass safety training or glass industry experienceUnderstanding of MIOSHA standardsBENEFITS:Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, 401K with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, employee engagement program, a bonus program and more!EMPLOYEE PERKS:Culture committed to work-life balancePrograms in place to support professional development and career growthThe opportunity to work for a company that supports sustainability and is growing!#J-18808-Ljbffr
