### Job Description: Environment Health & Safety Specialist
**Position Overview:**
The Environment Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is a full-time exempt role responsible for maintaining compliance with EHS standards and enhancing the safety culture within the organization.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Apply EHS theories and principles to address practical challenges.
- Efficiently manage and document multiple EHS projects and assignments.
- Familiarize yourself with site processes, equipment, and EHS programs, collaborating cross-functionally to drive project completion.
- Support and sustain environmental and safety programs, alongside engineering activities at the site.
- Oversee third-party vendors on-site to ensure compliance with EHS protocols.
- Utilize established EHS standards to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Evaluate operations to ensure compliance with internal and governmental EHS regulations.
- Conduct research and provide guidance on EHS matters.
- Assist in developing and delivering EHS training and communications for personnel.
- Engage in various EHS tasks, including industrial hygiene, biosafety, ergonomics, process safety, and hazardous waste management.
- Stay updated on innovations in EHS risk assessment and compliance strategies, integrating these into project plans to preemptively address potential issues.
- Organize daily activities and technical components to ensure timely project completion, including planning for shutdowns and decontamination efforts.
**Collaboration and Compliance:**
- Work closely with engineering management and internal teams to ensure EHS compliance across all equipment and documentation.
- Participate in various engineering functions as needed and adhere to all company policies and standards.
**Qualifications:**
**Education:**
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
**Experience:**
- 5+ years in Pharma/BioPharma with EHS responsibilities.
- OSHA industry training and knowledge of hazardous shipping guidelines.
- Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Experience in regulated environments (cGMP, OSHA, EPA) is preferred.
