Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Supervisor
Location: Elmira, NY
Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 (DOE)
Position Type: Full-time, Onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and communication of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) programs and policies.
- Ensure compliance with corporate, plant, and regulatory EH&S standards, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee environmental permit management, hazardous waste handling, and waste reduction programs.
- Participate in the review of new equipment, processes, or chemicals to assess their safety and environmental impact.
- Coordinate and manage special project assignments, including facility and equipment layout planning.
- Develop and enforce Material Handling programs to ensure safety and compliance.
- Mentor subject matter experts (SMEs) in their assigned safety programs and foster a culture of safety.
- Plan, develop, and deliver EH&S training and educational programs, maintaining all necessary EH&S records.
- Respond to and investigate EH&S-related emergencies, working with management to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with leadership to track and analyze EH&S performance metrics, reporting on trends and key data.
- Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system and ensure all materials and products are properly approved, with up-to-date SDS sheets.
- Partner with leadership to set annual safety performance targets and develop the Safety Annual Plan, driving actions to achieve or exceed these goals.
- Conduct internal audits and ensure timely corrective actions are taken for any discrepancies.
- Perform risk assessments and ensure compliance in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field (strongly preferred).
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in an EH&S role in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience in building safety policies from the ground up while actively engaging on the production floor.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Proven experience developing environmental safety policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
