Position Title: Environmental Health and Safety Technician (EHS Tech) Reports To: Safety Superintendent Position Summary: The EHS Technician ensures environmental, health, and safety compliance as outlined by federal, state, and local agencies and as contractually required. Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Reports to the EHS Safety Superintendent
- Monitors, evaluates, and enforces the PSI Environmental, Health and Safety programs
- Conducts routine safety inspections and surveillances; ensures discrepancies are corrected
- Performs Shipyard Competent Person duties
- Maintains administrative files as required by the EHS Manual, NPDES permit and other requirements
- Completes accident/incident/illness investigations and reports to Management and Corporate Insurance Department
- Provides training as necessary to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies, the EHS Manual and to ensure the ongoing education and safety of employees
- Maintains safety training records
- Conducts Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to ensure employees take required precautionary measures
- Maintains HAZ/Non-HAZ waste site(s) and materials
- Assists in performance of tasks related to environmental compliance with NPDES per management, state, and/or federal laws, rules, and/or regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Training:
- Minimum of 2 years of safety/environmental experience in the marine repair/construction industry preferable
- Shipyard Competent Person Certification experience preferred
- OSHA 10-hour maritime, construction or general industry certification
- HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred
- First Aid / CPR certification preferred
- Ability to effectively operate office equipment, to include desktop computers, calculators, printers, copy machines and telephones
Qualification/Requirement:
- Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
- This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
- All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
- Valid State of Hawaii drivers' license in good standing
- Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of a shift
