Role Overview

As the Environmental Manager, you will manage the environmental program at the Foreman, Arkansas plant, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations. This role emphasizes best practices and compliance in all plant operations, with a particular focus on waste-derived fuels and emissions management.

Key Responsibilities

· Compliance and Regulation

  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and all federal, state, and local environmental laws.
  • Complete, administer, and assist with various air quality reports and renewals.
  • Serve as the corporate liaison with regulatory agencies and community stakeholders on environmental issues.
  • Assist regulatory agencies by providing necessary information and support during inspections.
  • Obtain and maintain required licenses for environmental compliance, such as Licensed Wastewater Facility Operator and Certified Operator (APC&EC Regulation No. 23, Section 264.16(f)).

Environmental Program Management

  • Evaluate environmental performance through regular audits, identify corrective actions, and implement follow-up assessments.
  • Coordinate with the Waste Fuels Manager to manage daily operations involving waste-derived fuels.
  • Oversee the environmental policies and practices, developing strategies to meet company environmental targets.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Environmental Affairs to plan and execute training initiatives and goals.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Perform audits on monitoring systems, including data acquisition and system maintenance.
  • Oversee stack testing activities, coordinate reports, and approve results.
  • Complete various surveys and questionnaires from internal and external sources.

Training and Development

  • Coordinate with consultants for environmental training materials and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Contract with training consultants, purchase necessary training media, and oversee employee compliance training.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or a related environmental management field.
  • 7+ years in the environmental field with a strong focus on regulatory compliance.
  • Preferred background in cement, mining, or related heavy industries.
  • Experience working directly with regulatory agencies is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities

Technical Proficiency:

  • Environmental Engineering expertise.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Working understanding of environmental programs and practices applicable to a manufacturing environment, especially cement production.

Management and Communication:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional listening abilities.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and excellent judgment in decision-making.

Organizational Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and plan effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer skills.
