JOB PURPOSE
Support company operations within North America to ensure regulatory compliance and permit renewals
Stay updated with new developments in environmental policies, regulations and best practices
Proactive assistance, support and trainings to team members
Identify root causes of environmental problems and propose appropriate action plans.
Comprehensive Environmental permitting and technical expertise combined with excellent communication skills are required for this position
Domestic and international travel is required to meet business needs.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Ensure compliance within the regulatory requirements
Complete required State/Federal/Local Environmental Compliance reporting
Assess potential environmental risks and develop mitigation plans
Produce monthly and other required reports (i.e. ESG etc)
Ensure effectiveness of Environmental Management System
Analyse training needs and develop required training programs
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Promote environmental compliance including training, auditing and maintaining permit compliance
Develop, summarize and communicate environmental obligations across leadership team
Identify, evaluate and mitigate environmental risks and regulatory changes affecting company activities from initial due diligence through execution and operation
Completes State/Federal/Local environmental compliance reporting-included but not limited to the following: TRI, Tier II, Air Emissions, Hazardous Waste
Build strong relationship with permitting and regulatory agencies
Lead detailed Environmental Impact Assessments and supporting technical studies including noise assessments, air emissions modelling and ecology surveying where required
Manage early environmental due diligence activities where required
Provide environmental expertise to diverse internal teams and coordinate with other internal stakeholders about relevant issues and requirements
Stay current on changes in environmental policies and regulations to assess and mitigate the risks to the company activities
Build strong collaborative working relationships with business functions in North America, to ensure timely delivery of sustainability data and supporting information.
Establish and manage the verification of key data points for key disclosures.
Analyse business sustainability data to identify trends and areas of improvement to inform strategic decision-making across HE.

Qualifications & Managerial Experience
Minimum Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, or equivalent
5+ years in preparing and managing environmental permit applications and processes (including supporting documentation)
Technical Skills
Knowledge of permitting timelines, regulatory processes
Knowledge of State/Federal/Local Environmental legislation
Knowledge of Best Available Techniques and their application preferably in iron and Steel Industry
Experience in a Sustainability environment
Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills
Experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports
Environmental Management System requirements as per ISO 14001 or alternative standard
Experience completing State/Federal/Local environmental compliance reporting – including but not limited to the TRI, Tier II, Air Emissions, Hazardous Waste
