Job Description:

Our client, a prominent construction company known for large-scale infrastructure projects across the US, is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager. This role will support a major transit expansion project in Chicago, with a focus on ensuring strict environmental compliance, reducing environmental impact, and advancing sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge in environmental management within the construction industry, guiding the project through every phase with a commitment to environmental stewardship and regulatory adherence.

Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):

• Develop and execute policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and align with corporate environmental standards.

• Conduct impact assessments and develop plans to address environmental risks during construction.

• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards, including air, water, and noise monitoring.

• Work with regulatory agencies, consultants, and community stakeholders to address environmental concerns.

• Provide environmental training to project teams and contractors to ensure compliance with best practices.

• Implement waste management plans, including recycling and hazardous waste protocols.

• Track environmental performance metrics and report on key indicators.

• Develop response plans for environmental incidents to ensure swift containment and remediation.

• Lead efforts in energy efficiency, sustainable procurement, and carbon footprint reduction.

• Collaborate with the communications team to share environmental goals and achievements.

Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

• Certification as an Environmental Professional or equivalent.

• At least 10 years of experience in environmental management, particularly within construction or infrastructure sectors.

• Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and standards.

• Proven experience in developing environmental management systems and compliance strategies.

• Expertise in conducting environmental impact and risk assessments.

• Proficiency with environmental monitoring tools, software, and data analysis methods.

• Ability to manage multiple project tasks in a fast-paced setting.

• Experience working within a Joint Venture (JV) construction project environment.

• Professional fluency in English.

• Ability to work day and night shifts as required.

• Valid Driver's License.

• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
