Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Planner for the Greater Pennsylvania area to work out of our Pittsburgh office. This position will support our Planning team within our Transportation business line. The candidate will work under the direction of transportation, environmental planning, and urban planning staff to provide environmental support for transportation projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region and beyond.

The ideal candidate will be highly client focused, self-motivated team player, have excellent technical writing and interpersonal communication skills in order to work with clients, agencies, the general public and multi-discipline teams. Most importantly, the candidate must have a positive attitude with a passion for learning and developing their skills as an Environmental Planner.

This job will involve (but is not limited to) working under the general direction of the Task or Project Lead:

+ Support of planning studies and reports

+ Preparation of NEPA documents, including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments and possibly Environmental Impact Statements

+ Field evaluations and assessments, such as wetland delineations, resource assessments, and threatened and endangered species screening

+ Preparation of technical reports

+ Preparation of waterway permit packages (federal and state water encroachments, coast guard, aids to navigation, etc.)

+ Public involvement activities including preparation of meeting materials, attendance at meetings, and responding to comments

+ General technical writing

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, or related field plus two (2) years of experience in the planning and environmental permitting field in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and/or Delaware or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Master's Degree in Environmental Planning, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, or related

+ Experience with the preparation of NEPA environmental documents, including CE's EA's and EIS's for FRA, FTA and/or FHWA.

+ Experience with wetland delineations using the USACE Regional Supplements and biological field surveys

+ Experience developing regulatory permit applications and assessing impacts to jurisdictional resources

+ Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations, specifically the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act; Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act/Section 2002 of Pennsylvania Act 120; Sections 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act; 25 PA Code Chapters 102, 105, and 106; Sections 9 and 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Appropriation Act of 1899, Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, and Endangered Species Act

+ Transit or transportation experience; especially PennDOT, DelDOT, NJDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, and/or Amtrak and familiarity with agency processes

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

+ Working knowledge of ArcGIS

+ Strong written and oral communication skills

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $70,000.00 - $87,000.00.
