We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist (Entry-Level)to support our renewable energy projects across New York State and the Northeastern United States. This role focuses on assisting clients with natural resource considerations related to renewable energy site development, including wildlife, wetlands, and more.The Environmental Scientist will primarily support biological field studies as part of renewable energy development efforts. This role involves conducting surveys, collecting field data, and assisting with permit applications. Working with a team of dedicated biologists, the successful candidate will contribute to ecological assessments and support project compliance with state and local regulations.Your Role:•Conduct biological field surveys, including avian, wetland, reptile, amphibian, and bat surveys as needed.•Assist with state and local permit applications for renewable energy projects.•Collaborate with a network of biologists nationwide, supporting innovative work in wildlife and natural resource management.•Perform data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) independently, ensuring accurate data collection and documentation.Qualifications:•Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field, including coursework in ornithology, wildlife science, and general biology.•1-3 years of experience in field data collection, preferably within natural resources.•Proficiency with field technologies, such as handheld GPS units, tablets, and data collection apps like Esri Field Maps.•A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.•Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.Preferred Qualifications:•Experience conducting avian surveys for various species, particularly in the Eastern United States.•Familiarity with rare plant or wetland survey protocols.•Experience with other wildlife surveys, such as reptile, amphibian, or bat surveys for common and special-status species.•Knowledge of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers methods for wetland delineation in the Northeastern U.S. (preferred but not required).Compensation:Salary commensurate with experience.Salary Range: $20.00 - $32.00 hourlyPay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.Benefits: •Comprehensive and market-competitive benefits. •Merit-based financial rewards. •Flexibility and company-wide commitment to work/life balance.•Collaborative team atmosphere that values the contributions of all employees.•Learning and development opportunities for ongoing professional growth.At Tetra Tech, health and safety play a vital role in our success.
