Environmental Scientist (Wetlands, Natural Resources, and Permitting)Date: March 13, 2024Title: Environmental Scientist (Wetlands, Natural Resources, and Permitting)Status: Full-timeReports to: Environmental Permitting ManagerLocation: NJ Based (Flanders, New Jersey)Brief Description:The qualified candidate shall have general experience in performing wetlands delineations, threatened and endangered species evaluations, soils and vegetation analyses, NJDEP and ACOE permit applications, and Environmental Impact Statements. General knowledge and experience in Federal and NJ land-use regulatory programs including Freshwater Wetlands, Waterfront Development, Coastal Wetlands, CAFRA and FHA. Employee will support interdisciplinary project teams with required field work and preparation of permit applications and supporting materials for obtaining permits.Examples of work/duties:Under supervision, plans and performs wetland delineations, letters of interpretation and prepares reports.Responsible for applicable land use permitting, including NJDEP/EPA wetlands, flood hazard area, coastal & riparian regulations.Prepares NJDEP General and Individual wetland permits, and transition area waivers.Prepare CAFRA, Coastal, Dredging and Waterfront development permitting and compliance plans.Performs habitat evaluations for threatened and endangered species and habitat.Develops project schedules / budgets.Supports project progression by ensuring compliance with scope of work, project budget, quality objectives, and GES health and safety requirements.Performs Ecological Evaluations, Ecological Risk Assessments and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.Assist in other type office and field work as assigned.Minimum Requirements:Must have NJDEP Wetland general and individual permit experience, and transition area waiver experience.Experience with NJDEP Land Use Regulations.A Bachelor's degree or higher in Wetland Ecology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Wetland delineation training (40-hour) certification is desirable.Three to five years of relevant experience providing consulting support on wetland delineation and preparing permit applications and supporting materials and obtaining permits in New Jersey.Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive reports / permit applications.40-hour OSHA Certification.Must have the demonstrated ability to conduct field work and write quality reports with minimal-to-moderate supervision.Must possess excellent communication, teamwork, analytical, organizational, technical writing, and client service skills.Interest in Career Development, motivated and highly responsive.A valid driver's license.This is a full-time position based out of either our Flanders, New Jersey office.
