Munson is seeking an Environmental Services Group Leader, Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30pm, (additional days/hour may be required) to oversee the assignments of custodial staff assigned to their shift. The Group Leader ensures that custodial work is completed in accordance with Munson's standards as outlined in maintenance department documents. The Group Leader also performs custodial duties and snow removal as part of regular daily responsibilities.   • Creating team cohesion and working well with team members in a manner that mentors' coworkers and sets standards;
  • Training new team members, mentoring current staff as needed to improve performance, or training current staff on new cleaning methods or cleaning products;
  • Providing coaching of team members as necessary, documenting positive and negative work and keeping supervisor informed of teams'/individual's work performance and any schedule variances;
  • Maintaining regular communications with team members via radio, telephone or in-person walk thru of buildings; and
  • Ensuring buildings are secured, stocked, and that work has been completed thoroughly.
Ensures cleaning of buildings / snow shoveling in the event of staff absences by:
  • Performing or assisting other custodial staff with daily responsibilities
Monitors inventories in maintenance closets and storage areas by:
  • Requesting supplies when inventory levels warrant; and
  • Monitoring and requesting repairs or replacements for cleaning equipment or tools
Performs and/or ensures daily work assignments per schedules and procedures by:
  • Using appropriate disinfectant cleaners, chemicals and equipment - consisting of washing walls, doors, frames, sills, windows, baseboards, fixtures, furniture, ceilings, vents and light fixtures.
  • Performing and coordinating project floor work consisting of buffing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing and sealing of hard floor surfaces and bonnet cleaning, spot cleaning, shampooing and extracting of carpeted floors by use of appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Collecting and disposing of trash and bio-hazard waste by properly containing and transporting to proper disposal locations
  • Monitoring recycling bins and having emptied as required
  • Completing building audits as per supervisor requirements/requests
  • Performing and/or ensuring proper snow shoveling and salting is performed as needed
Notifies supervisor concerning the need for work orders related to building and equipment repair.Ensures safety standards are followed by:
  • Staying current with all required safety training;
  • Monitoring team training to ensure staff assigned to shift stays current on all safety training and follows correct safety procedures in daily work; and
  • Ensuring SDS sheets are up to date for chemicals used on premises, procuring SDS sheets for new chemicals being used and forwarding to the Campus Safety Director to be added to SDS log
Modifies work schedule due to events in Museum of Art or School of Art buildings, and responds to emergencies, as required. Set ups and breakdowns
  • Transports, sets-up, and breaks-down tables, chairs, risers, stage, easels, and other equipment for interior and exterior locations across campus and as outlined on set-up sheets. This work includes all Museum of Art, Performing Arts, and School of Art events and programs and occasional third-party events, such as receptions, weddings, etc.
Lighting
  • Routine interior and exterior light bulb changes. (Use of ladder is required for higher light fixtures.)
Serve on Munson staff committees, and performs other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Minimum qualifications of a high school diploma, GED and 1 year experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the kind of tools and equipment needed to perform environmental service jobs
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safety work environment
  • Knowledge of chemicals and equipment used to clean surface areas sufficient to be able to maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Skills in understanding and following oral, illustrated, written or demonstrated instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively; ability to train custodians; and possess basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Environmental Services Group Leader assists the Enviromental Services Supervisor in accomplishing work assignments meeting Munson standards and will provide on-the-job training, coaching, and counseling as needed. The Environmental Services Group Leader does not have direct supervisory responsibilities for hiring, termination, or performance appraisals and will refer performance issues to the Environmental Services Supervisor.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES & DEMANDS: Lifting Requirements: Must possess the ability to exert up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally, and up to 20 lbs. of force frequently. Weights over 50 lbs. should only be moved with assistance. The final candidate will be required to complete a post-offer, pre-employment background check.Munson is an equal opportunity employer.
