ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES INTERN - CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / FOUR RIVERS SECTOR

This position works under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) with guidance and support from the Dos Rios staff. The reporting location is Dos Rios, with work locations throughout the River Parks.

The Environmental Services Intern (ESI) will support the natural resources management at Dos Rios to California State Parks. The ESI will play an important role in assisting with the establishment of the Resources Program at the new park, Dos Rios, while supporting the program in other area parks. The ESI will assist with plant and wildlife surveys, exotic species management, program documentation, and other related work as assigned.

Driving a State vehicle in accomplishing the following tasks may be required.

This position requires a valid Class C driver's license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver's license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

The purchase of a uniform is required. Applicant is responsible for the purchase of a State Parks uniform.

The Environmental Services Intern classification is a non-testing classification. Appointments to this class are made under temporary authority (TAU) and are limited to no more than nine months of full-time equivalent work. No permanent appointments will be made. The time a person can serve in a temporary appointment must not exceed 9 months in 12-consecutive months or 189 days of work. When serving in a TAU appointment, the incumbent does not acquire probationary or permanent status or rights.

Working Conditions

* Office setting, computer work, prolonged sitting.

* Outdoor environment: heat, cold, wind, dust, water.

* This position works outdoors under adverse conditions, hikes over uneven and steep-sloped terrain and to remote locations and lifts and carries heavy loads.

* The position may work weekends and holidays, irregular shifts, and work and/or camp in remote work locations based on program or project needs.

* The purchase and wearing of a State Park uniform will be required. State Park grooming standards must be met.
