DescriptionMAIN FUNCTION:Assists Environmental Services Director in obtaining and maintaining a high quality standard of cleanliness in the Arnot Health by informing management of the immediate condition of all assigned areas and by training, supervising and motivating the Environmental Services personnel to ensure that all established rules of conduct, policy and procedures are observed.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** 1. Ensures employees in assigned areas have tools and chemicals necessary for performing assigned tasks and that they are being used correctly through continual rounding on all units and buildings as needed.2. Continuously supervises assigned areas, performing quality assurance program inspections to ensure that the assigned personnel are maintaining or obtaining established quality standards.3. Assures that adequate coverage of all scheduled areas is in place and that personnel are performing efficiently.Reports all pertinent information to Environmental Services Director and other management team members.** 4. Assists Director of Environmental Services in the training, evaluation, promoting and disciplining of employees.** 5. Handles requests for service with a sense of urgency and in a professional manner.6. Assists Director of Environmental Services in maintaining all department Quality Improvement Programs, policies and procedures.7. Contributes valuable ideas and suggestions that will provide improvement to the Arnot Health and/or Environmental Services Department.8. Promotes the professional image of the Environmental Services Department throughout the Arnot Health and instills a sense of professionalism in the personnel of the Environmental Service Department.9. Ensures compliance with union contract.10. Maintains communication between employees, Director of Environmental Services and all departments in Arnot Health.11. Updates job assignments, as needed (e.g., Daily, Quarterly, and Annually).12. Generates various types of documentation and reports, (e.g., Quality Improvement Program).13. Assists in evaluation of new and replacement equipment and supplies.14. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.15. Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer's needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Arnot Health.16. It is understood that this job description lists typical duties for the classification and is not to be considered inclusive of all duties which may be assigned.EDUCATION:High school or equivalent, two years of college or equivalent desired.EXPERIENCE:Previous supervisory and Environmental Services experience is highly preferred.Experience with large scale institutional cleanliness practices and Environmental Services standards and regulations is also highly desirable.CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:No CPR required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Appreciable effort or strain; occasionally repetitive efforts may involve lifting, pushing, pulling.On feet and walking extensively 90% of time.EXPOSURE CATEGORY:Category III. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.And Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.CONFIDENTIALITY:May overhear conversations of physicians, nurses and administrative personnel which requires use of discretion.Must exercise discretion with knowledge relative to employees and their performance.** A.D.A Essential Functions#LI-MS1
