Discounted membership at the YMCA Job Functions: Perform cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors (sweeping, mopping, operating floor equipment), washing walls and glass, removing trash, high and low dusting, and accomplishing weekly projects as assigned by Environmental Supervisor. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of needed repairs. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Cleanliness of the facility as assigned by Environmental Supervisor.
  • Working with volunteers (this includes leading and training them in their duties).
  • Event support as assigned by Environmental Supervisor.
  • Room turnover and timely work order completion.
  • Requirements Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED completed; Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision. Experience in Environmental Services recommended. Skill Requirements: This position requires the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary framework; Must be willing to be cross-trained and utilized throughout the Operations department. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, orally as well as in writing. Must demonstrate a heart for the ministry of serving poor and homeless families. The position requires a degree of maturity, sensitivity to issues of faith, cross cultural and diversity issues, and the social skill to handle job-related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner. Requires strong managerial skills and the ability to supervise both individual and group volunteers. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, staff, and volunteers. Physical Requirements: Must be able to tolerate outdoor temperatures consistent with Florida climate and endure prolonged standing/walking/bending/stooping and stretching. Must be able to relocate materials in a safe and proper manner. Must have adequate hearing and speaking ability as to take part in and provide sound oral communication and information. Must have the physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress. Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more. Other: Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States and pass applicable pre-employment background screening procedures. Must be able to work flexible schedules during the holiday season (October-December) and special events. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Valid FL drivers license with a good driving record and insured vehicle in order to transport self and clients when necessary.
