Job DetailsJob LocationMain Hospital Campus Headquarters - Madison, WVPosition TypeFull TimeDescriptionSummary Responsible for all related housekeeping dutiesnecessary with the Environmental Services Department, the scope of service, and area of responsibility. Responsible for providing and maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary environment. Practices good safety and infection control habits. Must have and maintain a valid West Virginia Driver's License.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.The Environmental Service Technician is expected to perform the following essential functions:
  • Clean patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas, and public restrooms, as well as launder all hospital linen if assigned.
  • Takes inventory daily of all linen in each department.
  • Use various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, wipe equipment, clean furniture, polish floors, and vacuum carpets.
  • Make beds, empty trash, and restock necessary supplies.
  • Collect dirty laundry from all patient areas and distribute the clean linen and hospital gowns back to the appropriate floors.
  • Take a daily inventory as well as inspect their equipment for any repairs or replacements.
  • Report any needed maintenance repairs to supervisor or director.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies
  • Valid WV Driver's License preferred

  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Repeat the same movements.
  • Bend or twist their body.
  • Walk or run for long periods of time.
  • Lifting (up to 50 pounds) using proper lifting techniques.
  • Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl, bend, twist, push, and pull.
  • Tolerate any required personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, face masks, respirators, safety belts, and other protective equipment deemed appropriate continuously.
Travel required
  • Up to 15% of time may be spent traveling within the State of West Virginia and surrounding areas.
Required education and experience
  • Hospital or hotel housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Janitorial experience a plus.
Preferred education and experience
  • Occasionally attend in-service training. Such meetings can include updates on company policies, new equipment demonstrations, and discussions of complaints made by patients or hospital staff regarding housekeeping. They may also insure that proper infection-control policies are being followed.
