SUMMARY: The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for providing custodial services for the Prairie Island Indian Community as directed by the Public Works Manager. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:The following duties and responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet business needs.
- Perform general cleaning and custodial duties in the Community Center, Administration Building, Elders Building and PSB Building
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms and kitchen areas
- Vacuum carpets and wash walls as needed
- Clean common areas, including dusting and emptying waste receptacles
- Assist with washing windows on a monthly basis, or more often as necessary
- Maintain neat and orderly custodial closets, ensure cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked
- Assist in examining common areas for safety hazards; report deficiencies to Public Works Manager
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to learn appropriate use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions and proper equipment usage
- Detail-oriented and thorough
- Good people and organizational skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work varied hours when necessary
- Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to work well within the existing team and government structure
- Sensitive to Native American Culture
- Must pass drug screen (UA) and a criminal background check
- Valid driver's license and proof of insurability
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:*
- Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to walk or stand for long periods throughout the day
- Must be able to push, pull and grasp objects routinely
- Must be able to bend and crouch frequently
REQUIRED TRAINING:
- Harassment training
- Any position-related training as determined by department manager
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed property-wide in an indoor setting
