POSITION SUMMARY
Performs daily cleaning tasks for resident rooms, nursing stations, lounges, restrooms, offices, and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with facility standards and objectives. Receive, sort, wash, dry, fold, track, and deliver laundry within the Childrens Center, following prescribed standards.

- Performs all environmental services-related tasks demonstrating service orientation to residents, staff, visitors and fellow employees
- Performs basic cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods
- Clean resident rooms, offices, corridors, stairways, furniture, restrooms, shower rooms, and other related areas/or function. Cleaning entails high dusting, sanitizing and spot cleaning, bathroom cleaning, emptying wastebaskets, floor dusting or carpet vacuuming.
- Cleans wheelchairs, other equipment as assigned.
- High dusting, Dust horizontal surfaces.
- Damp-wipes stairways treads and railings.
- Operates wet/dry vacuum units and operates carpet vacuums; vacuum carpets and runners; spot clean as needed. Operates Steamer and pressure washer.
- Damp wipe to clean all furniture.
- Cleans and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathroom.
- Mops and sanitizes floors of rooms and offices.
- Washes walls, glass doors and spot clean walls and windows as needed.
- Polishes metal and surfaces.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Performs check-out cleaning as assigned.
- Dust and wet mop floors.
- Scrubs or buffs floors with appropriate equipment.
- Vacuums and shampoos carpets.
- Assists with stripping and refinishing hard surface floors.
- Transports waste from utility rooms and other collection points and dispose of in the compactor or place it in the holding area.
- Cycle cleans induction units, light fixtures and windows.
- Cycle cleans ceilings and walls.
- Measure and mix cleaning chemicals.
- Assists in cleaning of emergency spills when observed or upon request.
- Maintains assigned equipment for cleanliness and recommends repairs as needed.
- Observes and reports the general need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixture.
- Collects, sorts and weighs soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and place it in appropriate containers.
- Sorts, counts, and washes soiled laundry, linen in accordance with the established procedures.
- Inspects and sorts linen as it is received from laundry; record and return rejects to laundry
- Folds clean linen and delivers covered carts to all user locations
- Takes count of linen not used from previous delivery
- Replenishes linen according to established PAR level
- Loads/unloads washers and dryers
- Washes and irons staff uniforms
- Prints and hot labels residents clothing
- Maintains log for linen closets, documenting unused linen, and report any apparent discrepancy between established standards and actual usage
- Maintains the linen room in a clean and orderly condition
- In case of fire or other internal disaster, assists in the evacuation of residents.
- In case of external disaster, assists nursing in making up extra beds, prepares to deliver extra linen, and other duties as assigned.
- Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma preferred
- 2-3 years as Housekeeping Worker or Laundry Worker, preferably in Health Care facility.
Employee Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
- Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.
- Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
- Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the residents blood/body fluids.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.
Working Conditions:
- Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.
- Will be subject to frequent interruptions.
- May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
Hourly Rate Range:
$21.56/Hr. to $23.64/Hr.
