Description:
The Environmental Specialist will be responsible for theimplementation of the plant environmental management system which includescompliance with applicable regulations, promoting pollution prevention andwaste reduction, training employees and the overall reduction of the plant'simpact on the environment; reducing work related injuries by continuouslyimproving the environmental management system and leading cultural change bydemonstrating exceptional leadership and engaging employees on all levels; and,the implementation of environmental programs, employee training, compliancemonitoring, maintaining reporting mechanisms and management of accidents, andimpacts to the property.
Environmental Specialist Duties:
Engage the entire work force both salary and hourly todrive cultural change and accomplishing environmental performance objectivesand targets.
Ensure environmental compliance with all federal, stateand local regulatory requirements and JCI corporate environmental systems andact as the lead contact with regulatory agencies.
Perform incident investigations for any type of adverseenvironmental impact, using a formal process with the focus on root cause,corrective and preventive actions and verification.
Provide effective training for all environmental programsincluding but not limited to SWP3, (Storm Water Pollution & PreventionPlan), SPCC (Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure), RCRA (ResourceConservation and Recovery Act).
Evaluate the safety management system for itseffectiveness and maintaining documented continuous improvement plans toimprove environmental performance.
Develop and implement motivational and incentive programsthat promote a high degree of environmental awareness and enthusiasm to supportan environmentally safe work site.
Perform and ensure compliance with industrial hygienetesting and other requirements to ensure a safe work environment.
Review planned changes and new equipment installationsprior to receipt utilizing the MOC process. Approve or recommend changes inmanufacturing and engineering matters of plant layout, location/relocation ofmachinery, equipment, facilities, safety designs and processes that may impactour environmental stewardship.
Help sustain the corporate environmental managementsystem. Collect environmental data for use in determining root-causes ofcompliance problems and pollution prevention opportunities. Implement proactivecorrective items.
Complete and submit applicable environmental reports in atimely fashion (such as Tier II, TRI Form R, Generator's Residual Waste, Cityof Norman Water Discharge reports, and Waste-Water Self-Monitoring).
Record and maintain spreadsheets containing all paintbooth, fin press and parts washer chemical usage.
Assist with the administration, implementation andcompliance with the ISO14001 and 45001 EHS Management System (acts as the plantmanagement representative).
Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste programincluding ensuring the correct handling, packaging, labeling, storage andtransportation of waste to approved treatment and/or disposal facilities.
Coordinate air emission, wastewater, storm water andwaste testing.
Investigating environmental process to reduce waste andsupport more efficient recycling methods.
Ensuring all environmental impacts and processes arebeing tracked in our Environmental Sustainability and Governance (ESG)platform.
Drive Environmental Performance throughout the plant.

Educational and Work Experience Requirements:
Degree in Environmental Science or Occupational Healthand Safety required.
3-5 years of working experience in a manufacturingenvironment.
ASP, CSP or COSHO preferred.
Experience in the following fields: RCRA, SWP3, PSM, TierII, Form R, SPCC, Wastewater Discharge permitting and compliance.
