Job Description:

$2,130.46 to $2,343.51 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Rockledge/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Performs experienced professional work planning, developing, and implementing environmentally related projects and programs for the Environmental Remediation and Compliance Program. This position is responsible for the implementation and application of FDEP Rules and Regulations regarding Compliance Assistance for Above-Ground Storage Tank (AST) and Underground Storage Tank (UST) inspections, including installation, removal/closure, discharge-related, and component(s) as they relate to all assigned projects and programs.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in an Environmental, a Physical, or a Natural Science, including Ecology and Wetland Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Zoology, Marine Science, Resource Management, Marine Biology, Botany, Geology, Natural Resources, Hydrology, and Hydrogeology, Conservation Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Planning, Coastal Zone Management, or Environmental Engineering PLUS two (2) years of professional experience in an environmental field PLUS must successfully complete, within fifteen (15) months of employment, all of the classes for any two (2) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on each phase examination PLUS must complete, within twelve (12) months of employment, one (1) continuing education (CEU) course related to the assigned field; OR two (2) years as a Brevard County Associate Environmental Specialist PLUS successful completion of all of the classes for any two (2) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on each phase examination PLUS documentation of successful completion of one (1) continuing education (CEU) course related to the assigned field PLUS a current annual performance evaluation rating of 4.0 or higher, with no performance evaluation factors with a rating of a 1 or 2. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for a maximum of one (1) year. A Master's degree is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a current twenty-four (24) hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification, in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120, and maintain said certification during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
