Job Description:

This Environmental Specialist position serves as the field level Subject Matter Expert (SME) in complying with environmental regulations applicable to company operations. The position supports North Delaware assets including the gas plants, compressor stations, and any associated pipelines and other facilities. This position will assist operations in achieving KNTK EHS goals with respect to environmental compliance in our operations. A proven ability to solve problems, learn new material, adapt to change and be an effective communicator are key traits to success in this position. This position reports to the Environmental Manager.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist management, operations, and project/maintenance teams as required to assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate rules and regulations pertaining to operational environmental aspects and impacts.

Assist with organizing, planning, implementing, and auditing the environmental programs and policies for the operation, ensuring compliance as required by regulatory agencies and corporate policy.

Ensure compliance with state and federal air quality regulations, including managing NSPS and MACT applicability documentation and recordkeeping. Working knowledge or experience with New Mexico Ozone Precursor Rule compliance is preferred.

Ensure compliance with Title V operating permits, Minor Source Construction permits, and General Construction permits, including the preparation of semiannual reports and annual compliance certifications.

Assist with waste and remediation activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, including the manifests, and regulatory reporting.

Assist with the review of MOC's for environmental impacts, permit compliance, and documenting necessary information to the file or helping to initiate the permitting process when required.

Ensure compliance with SPCC requirements and assist with spill response and remediation activities, as needed, including the facilitation of required reporting to applicable parties, including the NMED, and/or NMOCD.

Ensure compliance, gather data and facilitate reporting as required under numerous applicable regulations, including but not limited to CERCLA, EPCRA, SARA and State Superfund programs.

Ensure compliance with corporate policies, including but not limited to reporting releases to all applicable agencies and internal personnel.

Assist with being point of contact for both regulatory agencies and operations on required reports, payments, inspections, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

Assist with compliance audits, as needed, and assist in facilitating resolution of action items from findings of reviews, inspections, and incident investigations.

Maintain a working knowledge of existing and proposed regulations that affect the plant/compressor station/ pipeline site.

Communicate regular updates on ES&H releases, permit deviations, and enforcement status to the Environmental Manager for Operations management meetings.

Assist in implementing and maintaining an effective filing system for all operational data to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Ability to learn and comprehend the operating principles of natural gas compression and natural gas processing facilities.

Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

2 plus years of applicable industry experience in Environmental Compliance.

Strong knowledge base of State and Federal environmental regulations and standards applicable to gathering systems, field compression, natural gas processing facilities, and pipelines, including experience working with Regulatory Agencies such as NMED, NMOCD, EPA, etc.

Experience in gathering data for developing, and submitting compliance reports as required by applicable Regulatory Agencies.

Strong written and verbal communication.

Possess and maintain a valid driver license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company.

Ability to understand and follow directions.

Maintain discretion and confidentiality.

Good time management and organizational skills.

Computer knowledge (MS Office).

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in an area of Environmental study or an engineering discipline.

Experience and certification in Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) and other gas detection methods.

Work Requirements:

Travel to KNTK plants and worksites as needed.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Live within a 75-mile radius of company facilities (southeastern New Mexico).
