Description & RequirementsCome join our family at In-N-Out Burger! We have an excellent opportunity for a full time Environmental Specialist based in our Chino, CA office. The Environmental Specialist reports to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager and is responsible for wastewater management, stormwater control, hazardous materials handling, and air quality oversight. General Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain programs and procedures that enable company compliance with CERS, and all other relevant environmental regulations including California's Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act.
    • Includes pollution prevention and waste minimization programs through periodic monitoring, sampling, routine compliance inspections, and internal audits
  • Analyze and maintain detailed calculations and records of pollutant concentrations in air, water, waste, and soil samples to assess efficacy of programs and in proposal of new systems or programs
  • Prepare reports, permits, and studies for submission to regulatory agencies, such as the EPA; and technical reviews of stormwater/wastewater reports SWPP and SPCC plans
  • Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies, legal counsel, and environmental consultants
    • Includes preparation of wastewater permits, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and NPDES Permits; as well as corrective action plans and follow-up in response to concerns/incidents, following root cause analyses
  • Conduct routine compliance assessments, document action plans for any findings, and oversee action plan implementation
  • Monitor developing environmental federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and risk initiatives; analyze potential impacts on site operations; provide operations and management with information as appropriate to include proposals of new systems and programs to aid compliance
  • Assist in the coordination and monitoring of Hazardous, Universal, and Residual waste handling and disposal
Work Schedule + Benefits
  • Full-time position, Exempt
  • Pay Range is $109,000 - $138,000 The above represents the expected pay range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.
  • Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm
  • Department needs may call for occasional overtime
  • Occasional onsite visits to Stores and facilities in California to meet with inspectors

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field; required
  • 5+ years of experience in Environmental compliance, natural resources management, or related fields; required
  • HAZWOPER Certification; preferred
  • Certified Environmental Professional; preferred
  • Proven ability to negotiate and communicate with regulators, such as contacts at the EPA
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, including interactions with Certified Unified Program Agencies (CUPAs); required
  • Familiarity with CUPA programs such as hazardous materials management, underground storage tanks, or hazardous waste compliance; required
  • Strong proficiency in manipulating and analyzing data in multiple sources and formats
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with all levels of management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365; required
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while remaining organized and efficient
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently, yet be an integral part of an overall team environment
  • Strong moral compass: ability to operate with integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Highly adaptable with excellent time-management and follow-through skills
  • Valid CA Driver's License required
