Job Title: Environmental Staff Engineer
Job Description
The Environmental Staff Engineer will engage in a variety of fieldwork tasks including soil and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, construction quality assurance, and remediation system operations and maintenance. The role also involves chemical data analysis, contaminant fate and transport evaluation, and preparation of technical reports and proposals. This position requires OSHA health and safety training, first aid, and CPR training, all provided by the firm. Additionally, professional development opportunities through seminars, webinars, and mentoring are available.
Responsibilities
* Conduct fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, drilling oversight, and remediation system operations and maintenance.
* Perform chemical data analysis and contaminant fate and transport evaluation.
* Evaluate groundwater and soil remedies, including cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation.
* Conduct aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses.
* Analyze data and prepare maps, tables, and figures.
* Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
* Engage in up to 50% fieldwork.
Essential Skills
* Bachelor's degree in geology or a related field.
* At least 2 years of related experience, including drilling observation, well installation, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling.
* Experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, soil sampling, and environmental remediation.
* OSHA 40 certification.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with effective time management skills.
* Excellent writing and communication skills.
* Experience in communicating scientific concepts both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Advanced degree in geology or a related field.
* Geologist in Training (GIT) certification or other related environmental credentials.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental sampling or investigation.
* Technical experience in geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines.
* Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and/or GIS.
* Leadership experience in directing small groups to complete tasks.
