The Epic Client Systems Administrator is proficient in Windows Server OS, Citrix platform, and Epic client systems servers such as Hyperspace, EPS, WebBloB, and System Pulse. Responsibilities include monitoring server performance and troubleshooting issues; applying hot fixes, security updates, and service packs; maintaining Epic client systems backups and verifying restores; managing security; managing and maintaining the environments that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs; testing failover procedures for high availability; engaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources; and following Epic best practices for hardware and software configuration. Participates on project teams as a key contributor as well as responsible for relationship with Epic and opening and coordinating issues with Epic. Responsible for writing fundamental documentation in a clear, concise manner, adhering to standards. Must be available for support by pager or telephone 24 hours per day x 7 days per week.Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Information Systems or related field.Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Epic Client System Manager Certification required.Work Experience: 1 - 2 years related experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Detail-oriented and able to work independently as well as part of an integrated team. Strong interpersonal skills including strong written and verbal skills. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Windows server OS concepts, MS Windows server design and tuning in a virtual environment as well as server back-up and recovery strategies and high availability design and management. Demonstrated healthcare operational knowledge. Experience with Microsoft Windows operating system commands and scripting. Experience with managing Citrix platform.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Build and implementation of Epic client systems server and applications in support of Saint Francis health systems requirements.Documents configurations for procedures and system architecture.Establishes development guidelines designed to maintain optimum performance.Advises information services management in the creation of development guidelines.Periodically reviews existing solutions, recommending new procedures, and processes to achieve results.Adheres to all enterprise change management (ECM) procedures per IS policy.Makes configuration upgrades.Identifies impact of enhancement requests.Assists customers to identify and resolve problems.Escalation point for complex client systems issues.Facilitates timely resolutions of application defects and issues.Develops procedures under approved policy structure.Provides users with highest quality service and system expertise and escalates issues appropriately.May analyze, create, and deliver reports as assigned.Establishes guidelines for hardware standards to maintain adequate performance.Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance, reliability, and data integrity of the system.Reviews hardware for performance issues.Identifies and performs routine maintenance to ensure high performance.Recommends back-up schedules and strategy.May set up and regularly monitor back-ups as specified.Adheres to enterprise disaster recovery policies and procedures.Performs restores from back-up.Researches and recommends security and data access strategies.Configures user access based on approved policy, user roles, and responsibilities.Works with security and internal audit to comply with corporate security standards.Audits data access as scheduled or requested.Performs capacity planning for hardware and software in support of Saint Francis Health Systems initiatives.Assesses impact of and recommends solutions based on current and future data volume needs.Allocates and reallocates database resources.Designs database system architecture to meet performance needs.Researches and recommends database strategies to management.Assesses and recommends vendor tools for enterprise databases.Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established. Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
