Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Equal Employment and Title IX Analyst, UNLV Office of Equal Employment and Title IX [R0145532].
ROLE of the POSITION
The Office of Equal Employment and Title IX's Analyst serves as the Title IX Coordinator's primary liaison to individuals who report to that office concerns of possible discrimination, discriminatory harassment, and retaliation or otherwise seek that office's support; and provides other vital support to the office's investigators and administrators.
The Analyst has primary responsibility to conduct intakes with the individuals who have brought concerns to the Office of Equal Employment and Title IX, which requires effectively interviewing them to obtain the relevant detailed information about them and the details associated with their concern, before timely documenting the intake in a cogent, clearly written summary of the information provided by the individual (or lack thereof) pertinent to the category of harassment, discrimination or retaliation the individual reported, to enable the Title IX Coordinator to determine whether the Office of Equal Employment and Title IX has jurisdiction over the matter and the matter should be assigned to an investigator. As a part of this intake process and throughout the existence of their engagement, the Analyst will inform and correspond with those individuals about supportive measures and campus resources and assist as necessary in helping to avail those resources and supportive measures to those individuals.
For matters the Office of Equal Employment and Title IX does not have jurisdiction over, the Analyst will draft closure paperwork for the Title IX Coordinator's review and approval, that details why the office does not have jurisdiction over the case and which refers the concern to another UNLV office, as appropriate. The Analyst is the primary point of contact for individuals involved in these concerns both before and after the concern's closure and is responsible for ensuring that all these concerns' associated documentation and correspondence are saved and maintained and organized in Maxient, the office's case management system.
The Analyst additionally has primary responsibility for assisting those they have conducted intakes with as well as all other complainants and respondents who are/were party to active Office of Equal Employment and Title IX matters with supportive measures, campus resources, and other interim remedial measures the office is responsible for putting into place. The Analyst therefore must become a subject matter expert on the available supportive measures, campus resources, and interim remedial measures so that the Analyst can readily discuss and answer questions regarding them with complainants, respondents and others who engage with the Office of Equal Employment and Title IX. This responsibility includes, among other things, under the Title IX Coordinator's supervision: drafting paperwork associated with and overseeing the administration of no contact orders; engaging in correspondence with academic faculty and administrators related to academic accommodation requests; actively helping connect individuals with campus resources they need; and maintaining appropriate documentary record of the office's work and correspondence related to supportive measures, campus resources, and interim remedial measures organized in the office's case management system for the constituent's matter.
In addition to the above described principal functions, the Analyst has the following additional responsibilities:
* To be primarily responsible for initial review of Navex/Ethicspoint concerns received by the Office of Equal Employment and Title IX and work with the Title IX Coordinator to: process referrals of concerns outside of the office's jurisdiction to the appropriate person in other UNLV departments; or determine if an intake should be sought or the matter should be immediately assigned to an investigator.
* Gather information and/or head up correspondence as directed by the Office of Equal Employment and Title IX colleague assigned to: prepare responses to Charges of Discrimination/Complaints filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission / Nevada Equal Rights Commission / U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights; or facilitate compliance with those external agencies' requests for information during an external agency investigation;
* Partner with the Title IX Coordinator to gather internal office data and information necessary to respond to public records requests or other data gathering assignments the Office of Equal Employment and Title IX is tasked with performing;
* Track search waiver and EEO search requests to proceed with on campus interview received from Human Resources to help ensure that those requests are timely responded to;
* Attend and take notes during certain Office of Equal Employment and Title IX investigatory interviews where a third party notetake is deemed necessary and prepare summary of notes for investigator;
* Partner with Office of Equal Employment and Title IX Administrative Assistant to keep Office of Equal Employment and Title IX complaint master database up to date and ensure that every new matter received is entered into the office case management system.
* Perform certain office administrative functions required in the absence of the office's Administrative Assistant such as answering the Office of Equal Employment and Title IX's main phone line and attending to the immediate needs of walk in visitors to the office.
The Analyst may also be asked to perform other duties not described herein as assigned.
The Analyst must be able to effectively and appropriately prioritize assignments and structure tasks to accomplish and administer goals within established schedules and timelines. When information/data is conflicting, the Analyst must use discretion in extracting and gathering additional information/data from a variety of sources to independently make decisions.
Writing plays a significant and prominent role in the Analyst's job duties whether that be summarizing intakes, engaging in thoughtful and professional written correspondence by email, or preparing drafts of closing documentation.
