Reports to: Equestrian Director

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* All aspects of equine care

* Feeding, haying, watering horses

* Bringing horses in and out

* Dressing and undressing horses in blankets and/or fly gear

* Submitting feed orders to our Director of Operations

* Keeping feed pans and water buckets clean

* Medical care of the horses under the guidance of our resident veterinarian

* Assisting with veterinary and farrier appointments

* Laundry

* Keeping barns and offices neat and clean

* Pasture and paddock management

* Supervising student workers

* Assisting with night check as necessary

* Assisting with Equestrian Center shows and events

* Must be flexible with work schedule and available to work weekends and evenings when necessary.

* Must be able to travel during show season.

* Other related duties as assigned.

* Confidence in all aspects of equine care.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

* Ability to use electronic mail software to include Microsoft Outlook.

* Ability to use internet browser software to include Internet Explorer.

* Ability to use Microsoft Office software to include Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to spend a considerable amount of time standing and/or walking.

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to spend a considerable amount of time using their hands to write, handle, control, or feel objects.

* Employee must be able to work a variety of hours and schedules.

* Other physical demands are proximate to comparable professional positions in the public or private sector.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

* This position primarily works outdoors in the barn in all seasons and weather.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & TRAINING:

* Bachelor Degree.

* Previous experience working in a professional equestrian setting.

* Must have a valid driver's license.

* Meet other appropriate training requirements or experience.
