Job Description:

The following provides a detailed description for the position of Facilities Maintenance Technician. Actual duties performed may vary slightly. General Position Description The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a key multi-location position in the company and deals directly with all facets of mechanical and electrical maintenance of equipment and facilities. Duties

  • Split time effectively between 2 locations and manage priorities based on most critical items. Work with Club Managers and Regional Manager(s) to establish priorities if necessary.
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on fitness equipment.
  • Work with vendors for technical support and warranty claims for fitness equipment if applicable.
  • Order parts from most economical source for equipment repairs, and or maintain small parts inventory of frequently needed parts.
  • Respond to facility maintenance issues and repair or recommend subcontractor based on situation. (electrical, plumbing, roofing etc)
  • Participate in special facilities installation and repair projects including but not limited to: Painting, Wall Paper, Tiling, Plumbing(water fixtures, pipe, fittings, faucets, valves), Electrical(outlets, fixtures, breakers), HVAC (filters, light troubleshooting, Clean out), Roofing (inspection, assist subcontractor), Parking lot (Clean up, painting, Landscaping if needed), coordinated moving of Fitness Equipment and/or Facility Fixtures.
  • Follow Schedule for HVAC inspections, Monitor Sub contractor quarterly maintenance, advise management when sub contractor is needed.
  • Follow Schedule for equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. (may train and schedule other staff (if available) to perform and or assist with, PM)
  • Maintain Facility and equipment history in Facility Vitals Maintenance Tracking Software.
  • Maintain correct time on Clocks, Thermostats, Lighting Timers (Daylight savings)
  • Maintain correct programming on club thermostats, work with Club manager to achieve optimum set points.
  • Assist in monthly and quarterly Safety inspections.
Specialty Duties, Location Specific AQUATICS (Training Provided)
  • Manage daily monitoring and adjustment of pool and spa water chemistry. (Guilderland)
  • Assist with water chemistry supplies and ensure proper handling, storage and usage. (Guilderland)
  • Assist with cleanliness of all Aquatics areas and systems (Guilderland)
  • Assist in the maintenance of Athletic training and Court Areas and apparatus (Guilderland)
Required Skills
  • Jack of all trades needed
  • Positive, Energetic, Strong mechanical ability and problem solving skills required, excellent communication and basic computer skills are needed (email, internet, Word Processing, Facility Vitals, Online Ordering)
  • Electric Motors, Electronics troubleshooting, Mechanical Assembly, Mechanical equipment repairs, Carpentry, Electrical, plumbing, Painting, HVAC systems
  • Scheduling, Planning and Time Management Manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Flexible thinking and strong problem solving skills
Prerequisites for this position Prior Experience In:
  • Preventative mechanical maintenance
  • Mechanical Repairs to fitness equipment
  • Electronics Troubleshooting
  • Lite Carpentry
  • Lite Plumbing
  • Lite Electrical
  • All aspects of Aquatics Facilities preferred, Training available for right candidate.
