Now Hiring: Equipment Coordinator in Norfolk, VALocation: Norfolk, Virginia Pay: $20 - $21 Hours: 8 am - 5 pm Benefits: Weekly pay, Medical/Dental/Vision Job Overview of Equipment Coordinator: An Equipment Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the acquisition, maintenance, and distribution of equipment within an organization. This role ensures that equipment is functioning properly, available when needed, and maintained according to safety standards. The Equipment Coordinator collaborates with various departments to identify equipment needs, research and source equipment, negotiate contracts with suppliers, and manage inventory. Additionally, they may train staff on equipment usage and troubleshoot any issues that arise. Job Responsibilities of Equipment Coordinator:
- Maintain inventory levels at depots and terminals by comparing inventory and booking levels to meet export demands.
- Perform equipment confirmation and release at depots and terminals to ensure customers can pick up and return equipment for export bookings.
- Reduce empty idle time by communicating with depots, terminals, port operations, and maintenance & repair teams to maintain a fluid inventory and minimize terminal storage.
- Approve payment to the trucking community by processing email requests and creating work orders for container drays and chassis splits.
- Maximize off-hire and on-hire programs by coordinating with leasing companies and logistics to return and/or pick up equipment, targeting cost-saving initiatives.
- Provide immediate problem resolution for internal and external customers by identifying issues and strategizing solutions to ensure excellent service.
- Propose counts for vessel loadback, including targeting idles, projected volumes, and damaged units, while assisting with loadback preparation and planning.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.
Qualifications of Equipment Coordinator:
- Proficient computer skills, including all Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the shipping industry.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 1+ years of general work experience.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel.
