Statement of the jobThe University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Equipment Operator, Career Level 1 (CL1) in the Maintenance department at the Bangor campus. The Equipment Operator performs tasks related to the operation of vehicle and/or equipment of various sizes and complexity to assist the facilities needs of the campus.The Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating facilities equipment and for performing tasks related to routine and preventative facilities, vehicle, and equipment maintenance. The CL1 will respond to emergency calls and may perform basic troubleshooting responsibilities. The employee will perform other campus maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, snow removal, room set-ups, grounds maintenance, building maintenance, and other manual labor. They will work with materials and chemicals associated with cleaning. This position requires the ability to routinely lift, carry, and move 50 pounds. Must be able to read and follow written instructions, work independently and as a team, establish priorities, maintain records using a computerized work order system, and respond to campus emergencies. This position is designated as an essential position requiring the individual to be able to work during periods of inclement weather and/or campus emergencies.Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the ability to work occasional weekends and nights as required.Wage: $20.68 per hour or the internal transfer rate.
