The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.\nA starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations\nNature of WorkThe fundamental reason this job exists to operate moderate to heavy\nequipment in the completion of projects for various City of Montgomery departments. The essential functions are: operates\nmaintenance equipment; operates heavy equipment; operates hauling equipment;\nmaintains equipment, tools, and work area; and performs miscellaneous\ntasks. Equipment Operators typically use\ntwo or more types of the following equipment: bulldozers, scrapers, front-end\nloaders, wheel rollers, dump trucks, hauling equipment, and/or trash\ncompactors. The majority of Equipment Operators' time is spent utilizing equipment\nthat requires a CDL and many Equipment Operator IIs receive training on various\npieces of heavy equipment for future advancement to the Heavy Equipment\nOperator classification. Equipment\nOperators are supervised by various classifications, dependant upon the\nincumbents' assigned locations. \nMinimum Qualifications\nSix\n(6) months of experience in the operation of moderate-sized equipment such as\ntrucks, small dump trucks and/or tractors. Must\nhave a current CDL. \n\nNOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience\nthat provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job\nwill be considered.\n\n\n\nSpecial RequirementsMust\nhave and maintain a valid driver's license and insurable driving record. May be\nrequired to travel across rough, uneven or rocky surfaces at the various work\nsites.
