POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for operating grounds maintenance and construction equipment. Maintain airport grounds, construct, renovate, and maintain landscaped areas. Operate mowing equipment to mow all areas of airport grounds. May be designated as lead tractor operator for mowing crew while engaged in mowing on the AOA. Responsible for communication with the Control Tower and determining the safe entry and exit to areas on the AOA. Complete maintenance work order as assigned, record all time, material, and equipment information correctly.EQUIPMENTOPERATED:
- Batwing mower (primary equipment), slope mower, bucket and high reach truck, front-end loader, roller, sweeper, spray rig
- All equipment operated by the Equipment Operator II position
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school graduate and five (5) years experience in the operation of construction and industrial lift equipment on landscape construction or maintenance projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Basic knowledge of essential safety equipment and protective devices.
- Sound working knowledge of safe rigging and operational limitations of construction and lift equipment.
- Knowledge of rules, regulations, and guidelines regarding safe equipment operation.
- Must be capable of properly operating field communication equipment to include communication with Control Tower.
- Must be able to apply horticultural chemicals safely and install landscape materials according to blueprints and specifications.
- Proficiency in construction and maintenance of landscaped areas required.
- Valid Florida Commercial Driver License, Class B with tanker endorsement and air brakes designation required.
