Equipment OperatorReports to: Road ForemanGeneral Summary: The Road Crew maintains Township roads, culverts, drainage ditches, traffic lights, signs and buildings, and all other Township property as requested by the Supervisors.Primary Responsibilities:* Maintain Township roads, culverts, drainage ditches, traffic lights, signs and buildings, and all other Township property* Maintain Township equipment, keeping records of preventive maintenance (oil changes fuel filters, plugs, tires, brakes, etc.)* Compile a list of equipment, tools, materials, and manpower needs for any major work projects as much in advance as possible. This list should be gone over with the Road Crew, or Supervisor for their input and approval.* Create and maintain records on a computer system in order for the Roads Department to report to Supervisors; projects, schedules, etc* Operate all equipment regarding Road Crew responsibilities* Communicate the status of all projects to Road Foreman* Meet with Road Foreman to determine necessary materials for road maintenance* Purchase parts on a continuing basis such as: road salt, road oil, sand, gravel, motor oil, gas & fuel, once it is approved or an account has been established* Physically to check roads, or be called by the police to make call out decisions* And all other duties as assignedSecondary Responsibilities* General maintenance at Township Building; ex. Bathrooms, snow removal from sidewalks, mowing grass, etc.Qualifications* Possess at least a high school diploma or GED* Possess, or be willing to acquire, Commercial Driver's License, with proper endorsements and medical card* Significant construction or public works experience;* Considerable knowledge of road construction and maintenance, culvert installation, etc.* Experience driving trucks, plowing snow and operating heavy equipment* Knowledge of highway maintenance practices and road repair techniques in all weather conditions* Experience or working knowledge of paving and paving materials and practices, drainage and culvert construction* Ability to perform routine service and maintenance of Township equipment* Ability to communicate well* Ability to withstand exposure to varying weather condition and exertion of significant physical effort* Must be able to lift objects of medium weight and have the mobility and manual coordination to accomplish the tasks listed for this position* Ability to cooperate with co-workers on group tasksprovided by The Warren Times-Observerrecblid gn54yajads20sdl57w3xhn0phbq000
