Position Summary: Reporting to the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, the Equipment Operator (Material Handler/Shipper Receiver) is accountable to ensure materials are always available at point-of-use in production areas. The role purpose is to constantly handle replenishment tasks so production personnel can focus on the valued-added tasks that create products. The incumbent needs to be thoroughly familiar with the materials, tools and methods of the process they are supporting. By working within the processes, this position also requires one to be constantly moving and facilitating workflow, all while keeping the workplace clean and efficient. The Equipment Operator (Material Handler/Shipper Receiver) is also accountable for assisting in shipping, receiving, and storing of products materials and supplies. The incumbent will also assist with Inventory when required.Duties & Accountabilities:
  • Physically kitting materials for workstations and deliver to point of use locations
    • Packages cut material
    • operating material handling equipment to stock locations
    • attending to problems as they occur and constantly communicate with production departments throughout the workday to ensure material is always replenished
  • Cuts required amount of fiberglass fabric to order specifications.
    • Monitors cutting practices to maximize material use and keep waste at a minimum
    • Utilizes patterns or molds
    • Following blueprints, drawings and job routings
    • Makes patterns or lay-outs from finished molds
    • Selects proper hand and power tools, maintains hand tool blade conditions
    • Obtains bulk materials from inventory as needed
  • Maintain inventory records
    • Accurately records required information on inventory control cards, process sheets, and cutting reference sheets.
    • Monitors inventory levels of fiberglass materials daily and informs supervisor of low supply levels.
    • Completing cycle counts accounting for all physical inventory/tooling
  • Maintains work area neat, clean and free from debris.
    • Participate in lean manufacturing and 5S activities such as cleaning, organizing, painting, etc.
  • Verifies materials and supplies received are the correct items as ordered, correct quantity, and in good condition including concealed damage.
    • Storing raw materials and maintaining a tracking system
  • Transports completed products from production areas to storage and/or prepares them for shipment
    • Organizing loads and shipping tanks and accessories
  • Assists in loading completed products, material, and supplies on various modes of transportation and secure properly
    • Assisting production by moving and delivery of parts, supplies and products
    • Signaling operators to guide them in moving equipment
    • Notifies supervisor of any damage or non-conformance to permit proper repair before shipment
    • Storing tanks in the yard and maintaining the tank tracking system
    • Maintaining the appearance of the yard and warehouse, such as debris removal, facility and yard clean up, set up, etc.
    • Maintaining equipment and tools properly, ensuring they are in good working condition
    • Maintain work area neat, clean and free of debris
  • Assist with other departments as needed
    • Assisting with month end inventory counts when required
    • Snow removal as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma is preferred
  • Must be able to learn how to operate proper hand and power machinery (forklifts) used for shipping and proper care of hand and power machinery.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, drawings, and job routings, and a working knowledge of erp system.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a customer focus, and a demonstrated sense of urgency to resolve issues as they arise
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as part of a team
  • Ability to keep the workplace clean and efficient
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to follow directions and adhere to all policies and procedures
  • Ability to work variable hours including overtime and weekends as needed
  • Familiarity with basic office software packages such as Microsoft office, excel and outlook.

  • Ensure that the equipment and process operate efficiently and safely
  • Provide support to the generation of HAA and SOP
  • Cooperate with their employer for the purposes of protecting the health and safety of themselves as well as other workers either engaged or at the work site where the work is being carried out
