Job Description:

Wolfe Research is seeking a Biopharmaceuticals Equity Research Senior Associate or Junior Vice President to join its team in NYC. Wolfe Research was voted #6 on both a weighted and unweighted basis for equity research during 2023 by institutional clients in the prestigious Institutional Investor All-America Research Poll, trailing only significantly larger bulge bracket firms, who have historically not been viewed as our peers. The firm's clients include most of the world's largest asset managers (mutual funds, pension funds, hedge funds).

Equity research job covering: Global Pharmaceuticals & Large Cap Biotechnology. Candidates should have good familiarity with the biopharmaceutical sector. This experience could come from: (1) working in a similar financial role already, either on the buyside or sell-side in the healthcare/therapeutics space; (2) working in the biopharmaceutical industry (ideally in a business function such as sales & marketing, business development, portfolio assessment, R&D and medical affairs); or (3) working at a consulting firm where clients are biopharmaceutical companies.

Responsibilities & Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years experience and familiarity with the biopharmaceutical sector, as described above
  • Good familiarity with financial concepts including: the basics of corporate finance such as 3-statement financial modeling; forecasting; and valuation techniques
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills: working with large data sets in Excel/Access, and ability to source and process information independently
  • Demonstrated ability to generate ideas: work closely and communicate effectively in a time sensitive environment, ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines, strong organizational skills, client service minded and strong writing skills
  • Technical skills: Bloomberg and/or FactSet skills helpful; Excel (macros, pivot tables, conditional formatting, short cuts).
  • Strong communication skills: particularly an ability to write concisely using correct grammar
  • Comfortable working 10+ hour workdays and some work on occasional weekends
  • Series 7, 63, 86 & 87 licensure is preferred, or expected to be completed within the first 12 months of joining
Education:
  • BA/BS required, concentration must be in a scientific area relevant to the job
  • Demonstrated academic ability with a minimum 3.5 GPA
  • MBA, CPA, PharmD or PhD in a scientific area relevant to the job is not required, but is a plus

The compensation for this role is market competitive with a base salary range of 110,000-160,000. We intend to offer the selected candidate a base salary within this range, based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill set, job-related experience, and location. In addition, we offer an annual discretionary incentive bonus and competitive employee benefits including: medical, dental and vision coverage; life, accident and disability insurance. Wolfe also offers paid time off packages that include vacation, sick days/leave, paid holidays and paid parental leave.
