Summary:
Under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse, ER physician, or EMT-P, the Emergency Room Lobby Technician manages the lobby of the ED and the arrival of incoming patients, is able to care for patients of all ages, and works as a member of the nursing team to aide in promoting and giving quality patient care and decreasing patient length of stay. No managerial or supervisor responsibilities. Manages the switchboard, monitors the fire board, overhead pages various codes and conditions and responds to emergent situations.
Responsibilities:1. Current HSS training required.
2. Current BLS required.
3. Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate and interact with the general public, as well as with emotionally distraught patients, family member and visitors.
4. Demonstrates ability to answer phone using AIDET skills.
5. Demonstrates ability to comprehend responsibilities related to Fire Board and Switchboard.
6. Demonstrates ability to multitask.
7. Demonstrates awareness of the role of the Emergency Department in the community and emergency medical systems.
8. Must be able to assess gross patient needs and set priorities on work, functioning within orientation and training parameter.
9. Must have the ability to work independently and organize several projects.
10. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
11. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
12. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
13. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
14. Must keep patients safe.
